75th Avenue median update

It appears the median update project on 75th Avenue from Union Hills to Beardsley Road is complete. What do you think of the finished product?

PCH Arrowhead doubles capacity

The Arrowhead campus of Phoenix Children’s Hospital, which opened in August of 2024, has doubled its number of available beds, from 24 to 48. (link)

Loop 101 Project closures & restrictions

Upcoming overnight lane restrictions

75th Avenue will be narrowed to one lane in both directions at Loop 101 nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning Thursday, March 27 through the morning of Saturday, March 29. Northbound 67th Avenue will be narrowed to one lane at Loop 101 nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, March 31 through the morning of Wednesday, April 2.

UPCOMING CLOSURE

The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 59th Avenue and the eastbound off-ramp at 51st Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, April 4 to 5 a.m. Saturday, April 5.

ONGOING RESTRICTIONS

Lane restrictions are ongoing at the following locations for bridge work and frontage road improvements.

At the 51st and 35th avenue interchanges:

All on- and off-ramps will be narrowed to one lane The left-turn lane for both east- and westbound on-ramps will be narrowed to one lane 51st and 35th avenues will be narrowed to one lane under Loop 101 At the 31st Avenue interchange:

The 31st Avenue shoulders will be closed under Loop 101. Pedestrian access is still available. Frontage roads:

Much of the work on the frontage roads was completed in March 2025. Short-term periodic restrictions on the frontage roads may be needed in the future.

HOV Rule changes to impact EV drivers

If you have been using the HOV lane by yourself in your alternative fuel car, the cheat code is coming to an end. Starting October 1, all vehicles will be required to have at least two occupants to use the HOV lanes during peak hours, regardless of the type of car. (link)

WeRIDE expands in Peoria

The pilot program of WeRIDE, which has been running since January, has expanded its service area to include a larger portion of Peoria. The service is available for most of the West Valley now. (link)

I-17 Restrictions

Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (right lane closed) between New River Road and Black Canyon City (mileposts 232-243) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Sunday, March 30th, and ending the morning of Thursday, April 3, for landscaping work. (link)

Champion Rattlers to begin new season

Sunday, March 30 the defending IFL champion Arizona Rattlers kick off their 2025 season against the Tucson Sugar Skulls at 3:05 p.m., inside newly renovated Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.

Downtown Glendale Car Show

The Family Fun Festival & Marketplace is this Saturday, March 29th from Noon to 6 p.m. We are looking forward to a special day in Historic Downtown Glendale! Car Show, Live Music, Food Trucks, Arts and Crafts. (link)

Hike for Hope

The 12th annual Hike for Hope, Riding the Waves of Grief, benefiting Billy’s Place will be 8 a.m. Saturday, April 5. The hike is an opportunity for everyone to hike in honor of a loved one they have lost. (link)

Get ready for rides, fried food, baby animals, and non-stop entertainment at the Maricopa County Fair - happening this April at the Fairgrounds! (link)

Glendale Family Bike Ride

The City of Glendale is hosting the Family Bike Ride at 8 a.m. on April 6 in Sahuaro Ranch Park, on the corner of 59th Avenue and Mountain View Road. Riders can choose from three routes: short (7 miles), long (15 miles) or extended (23 miles), and refuel on snacks and water provided along the journey. (link)
