Loop 101 Info for this weekend

Reminder: 51st Avenue will be closed in both directions at Loop 101 May 30 - June 2 Upcoming 31st Avenue closure at Loop 101 June 6-9

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following closures and restrictions, as part of the Loop 101 widening project between 75th Avenue to I-17.

51st Avenue will be closed in both directions at the Loop 101 interchange from 10 p.m. Friday, May 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 2, for bridge removal work. The right lane also will be closed in both directions on Loop 101 at the 51st Avenue bridge during this time. Upcoming closures and restrictions

31st Avenue will be closed in both directions at the Loop 101 interchange from 10 p.m. Friday, June 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 9, for bridge removal work. The westbound Loop 101 ramps to north— and southbound I-17 also will be closed. The right lane also will be closed on westbound Loop 101 at the 31st Avenue bridge during this time. Westbound Loop 101 will be narrowed to two lanes in the area of the 51st Avenue interchange from 10 p.m. Friday, June 6, to 5 a.m. Saturday, June 7, for paving work.

LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURES

The westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 51st Avenue will be closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m., Monday, May 19. DETOUR: Drivers may consider using the westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 59th Avenue, then travel south to eastbound Union Hills Drive to reach 51st Avenue. The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 59th Avenue will be closed for approximately 60 days beginning 11:30 p.m., Monday, May 19. DETOUR: Drivers may consider using eastbound Union Hills Drive to 51st Avenue to access eastbound Loop 101

ONGOING RESTRICTIONS

Lane restrictions are ongoing at the following locations for bridge work and frontage road improvements.

At the 51st and 35th avenue interchanges:

All on- and off-ramps will be narrowed to one lane The left-turn lane for both east- and westbound on-ramps will be narrowed to one lane 51st and 35th avenues will be narrowed to one lane under Loop 101 At the 31st Avenue interchange:

The 31st Avenue shoulders will be closed under Loop 101. Pedestrian access is still available. Frontage roads:

Much of the work on the frontage roads was completed in March 2025. Short-term periodic restrictions on the frontage roads may be needed in the future.

Split decision on Glendale Special Election

Glendale voters were split on Propositions 401 & 402. The City of Glendale is still working to see how these results will impact the VAI Resort. (link)

83rd Avenue Closure

Beginning next week on May 27th, the City of Peoria will be closing 83rd Avenue in both directions from Jomax Road to Happy Valley Road. The closure is due to construction of the new home community to the east, making sewer connections in the road. The closure will last until June 13th. (link)

Fundraising Garage Sale

AZK9 Rescue is hosting a garage sale in an effort to fundraise, all proceeds will help cover the costs to spay & neuter rescued dogs. Sale is from 7am-12pm on Saturday, May 31st. (link & map)
