COMMUNITY NEWS

Northbound I-17 closure

Northbound I-17 will be closed between Happy Valley Road and Loop 303 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 5) for pavement improvement project. Northbound I-17 on-ramps at Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads also closed. (link)

67th Ave & Union Hills Median Improvements

The City of Glendale continues to make improvements to the median on 67th Ave, north of Union Hills. (link)

Bulk trash weekend

Next week is bulk trash pick up here in Arrowhead. Be sure and have your items set out by Monday morning. (link)

Great Skate closed due to storm damage

Damage from the recent monsoon damage has led to the closure of the Grate Skate roller rink. They are hoping to be reopened on Friday. (news & link)

FOOD NEWS

Yellowtail Sushi & Sake coming to Arrowhead

Construction is underway on the former Sakana Sushi & Grill location at 59th Ave & Beardsley, and it will be the new location of Yellowtail Sushi & Sake. (link & map)

EVENTS

First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Phoenix

First Friday is an all-ages free art event that is held on the first Friday of each month. It takes place from 6-10pm on Roosevelt Row in Downtown Phoenix.

If you have not been, it is a fun event full of great art, lots of food & drink options and great people watching. Our favorite beer garden, AZ Wilderness Brewing, is on Roosevelt and it is a great spot to hang out, have a beer and enjoy the scene. (link & map)

Intel announces layoffs

Chipmaker Intel says it is cutting 15% of its huge workforce, about 15,000 jobs. It is unclear yet how layoffs will affect Intel’s Arizona facilities. (link)

In lighter news, a friend & client of mine was featured this week. I’ve worked with a lot of people who have interesting businesses & careers, but Stevie may have the most fun.
