COMMUNITY NEWS

Southbound I-17 Closure

Southbound I-17 to be closed between Loop 303 and Happy Valley Road February. 14-17th.

Loop 101 Lane Restrictions

ONGOING RESTRICTIONS: Lane restrictions are ongoing at the following locations for bridge work and frontage road improvements.

At the 51st and 35th avenue interchanges:

All on- and off-ramps will be narrowed to one lane The left-turn lane for both east- and westbound on-ramps will be narrowed to one lane 51st and 35th avenues will be narrowed to one lane under Loop 101 At the 31st Avenue interchange:

The 31st Avenue shoulders will be closed under Loop 101. Pedestrian access is still available. Frontage roads:

The east- and westbound frontage roads (Beardsley Road) will be narrowed to one lane throughout the project area. The frontage road improvements are expected to be completed in early- to mid-March 2025. (link)

JoAnn to close 6 valley locations

Craft retailer Joann will be closing six locations here in the Valley. They will continue to operate four locations, which includes their location on Bell Road here in Arrowhead Ranch. (link)

TSMC Lawsuit

Whistleblower has accused the company of job discrimination. (link)

RESTAURANT UPDATES

Lots of news recently about restaurants opening & announcing locations here in Arrowhead or nearby.

The Trailhead - 83rd Ave & Happy Valley

Trailhead, the brand new retail center anchored by Safeway, has announced several new restaurant tenants.

Sparrow, by Sky Restaurant Concepts, who also run Squid Ink Sushi, Urban Agave & Highball Cocktail Bar, will be open in Fall of 2025.

Jinya Ramen Bar will be opening their third Valley location and will be opening in March 2025.

Crust Simply Italian will be opening their location at the Trailhead in 2026, which will feature a high-end speakeasy.

Einstein Bros Bagels is now open next to Safeway.

Robeks Juice is still under construction and will open soon.

Negranti Creamery will be opening its second location in Phoenix.

85°C Bakery Cafe

85°C is having their grand opening at the new location on Bell Road & 73rd Avenue, next to Yogi’s Grill. 85°C is a cafe that provides premium coffee, bread, and cake at affordable prices.

Ricemill

Ricemill, a modern Asian-inspired rice bowl concept, has announced they will be opening three locations in the Valley, which will include one in the food court at Arrowhead Towne Center.

Swig Soda Shop

The highly anticipated Swig Soda Shop opened there location at 83rd Ave & Cactus. Swig is known for its assortment of drinks incorporating soda & cream.

Cornish Pasty Co

Cornish Pasty Co is opening it’s first West Valley location in Historic Downtown Glendale, in the Gaslight Building at 58th Ave & Glendale Ave.

Four Corners - Lake Pleasant & Happy Valley Road

The Haymaker has opened its newest location in the Aldi shopping center on Lake Pleasant Drive south of Happy Valley Road

Four Corners Taphouse, by Westside Concepts, will be opening in the former space occupied by The Haymaker on the west side of Lake Pleasant Drive.

ARROWHEAD RESTAURANT GUIDE

I’ve decided the creation of the Arrowhead Restaurant Guide will be a crowdsourced project. Each month, I’ll focus on a certain genre and you will get the chance to chime in on what you think is the best.

This month is PIZZA!!
