WEATHER WATCH
Is it really happening???!!! Are we finally going to see sub 100° temperatures? I’m not holding my breath. The past month or so there have been hints of this in the forecast but it never came to fruition. It looks promising, but let’s just say I’m skeptical 🤣

COMMUNITY NEWS
Household hazardous waste collection
For a limited time in the spring & fall, the City of Glendale offers the opportunity to get rid of household hazardous waste. You have to make an appointment and they begin scheduling on September 16th. There is a long list of things they will accept and those they will not, so check the details here → (link)

75th Avenue Closure
Improvements to the medians along 75th Ave, north of Union Hills, will begin this weekend, and continue the following two weekends as well. Northbound lanes will be closed on September 14th & 15th, 21st & 22nd and 28th-29th. (link)

Bruschetta at Postino’s Wife Cafe
The Park at 83 to open in October
The much anticipated restaurants in the new dining complex near Peoria Sports Complex, now called The Park at 83, will be opening soon. North Italia & Blanco Concina + Cantina will open in October, with Postino’s Wine Cafe opening in January. (link & map)

It’s time for the State Fair!
Nothing says fall in Phoenix like the State Fair. Lots of fun rides & crazy foods, plus many exciting events & concerts. My father and I went to the figure 8 races last year and it was a blast. AZ Central put together a great guide on all things State Fair. (link)

Hot Rod Nights are back at Westgate
Every Wednesday from September 18th through October 16th, from 5-9m. All types of cars are welcome. (link)
Arizona Cardinals home opener
On Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals will host the LA Rams at State Farm Stadium. Keep that in mind for traffic on the Loop 101. (link)

Teddy Bear Day in Historic Downtown Glendale
The 20th Annual Teddy Bear Day event will be in Downtown Glendale on September 14th, from 10am-4pm.

The Siphone Fire has led to evacuations in Apache Junction & areas near Canyon Lake. (link)

The Point fire in North Phoenix is causing evacuations near New River. (link)

How many lakes are there in Arrowhead Ranch?
While Arrowhead Lakes is very lake focused, with almost every home bordering the water. It is not the only community in Arrowhead that has man-made lakes, in fact, they all do. (link)
