Phoenix Children’s Hospital Arrowhead is open

PCH has officially opened their Arrowhead hospital. I hope you don’t ever need to visit, but this brand new facility is a great addition to our community. (map)

Dollar Tree is open

The newest Dollar Tree, located in the space formerly occupied by 99 Cent Stores, is now open. (map)

I-17 Southbound closure this weekend

Southbound I-17 closed at Jomax Road in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 19) for pavement improvements. Plan for southbound I-17 to also be narrowed to one lane between Loop 303 and Jomax Road. Allow plenty of extra travel time.

Primary Detour: Southbound I-17 traffic will use the off- and on-ramps at Jomax Road to travel around the closure. Please stay on the primary freeway detour and avoid using nearby streets.

Please Note: No I-17 closures are scheduled for this project over the weekends of Aug. 23-26 and Aug. 30-Sept. 3. (link)

The Audrey Bistro is coming

The second location of the Turquoise Wine Bar, located at Olive & the Loop 101, will be closing for a week in late August, and will reopen as The Audrey Bistro. (article, link & map)

Taiwan Mama opens North Phoenix location

Popular Tempe restaurant, Taiwan Mama, has opened their second location in North Phoenix at 7th Street & Union Hills. (article, link & map)

A popular arch at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, known as the ‘Toilet Bowl’ has collapsed. Rangers believe the rising water levels & erosion led to the collapse. (link)

Sky Harbor Airport has announced their plans to build a pedestrian walk way between Terminal 3 & Terminal 4. (link)
