Chickens in Arrowhead?

Happy Friday, at least I think it’s Friday. Between the holidays and being sick, all the days have been the same lately. I hope you had a great Christmas & New Year’s.

COMMUNITY NEWS

New year, new laws

Some interesting new laws have taken effect in the new year. The most notable allow for chickens in all cities and the end of ‘rental tax.’ If you are renting a home, be sure your landlord or property manager is no longer charging you privilege tax. (link)

Christmas tree disposal

If you still need to dispose of a real Christmas tree, you still have time. The city of Glendale is accepting trees for recycling through January 4th. The closest ones to Arrowhead Ranch are at the Fire Station at 6801 W. Deer Valley Road, or at Foothills Park at 57th Ave & Union Hills Drive. See all the drop off locations in the link.

Loop 101 Lane Restrictions

Beginning January 6th, right lane restrictions will happen each night from January 6th-9th, and 13th-14th.

Be mindful of the following areas and dates, nightly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.:

• Monday, Jan. 6: Westbound between 51st and 59th avenues

• Tuesday Jan. 7: Eastbound between 59th and 51st avenues

• Wednesday, Jan. 8: Eastbound between 67th and 59th avenues

• Thursday, Jan. 9: Eastbound between 75th and 67th avenues

• Monday, Jan. 13: Westbound between 67th and 75th avenues

• Tuesday, Jan. 14: Westbound between 59th and 67th and avenues

The westbound Loop 101 frontage road (Beardsley Road) between 33rd and 51st avenues and the eastbound frontage road between 33rd Avenue and I-17 will be narrowed to one lane nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Monday, Jan. 6, ending Friday morning, Feb. 7.

FOOD NEWS

Postino’s Wine Cafe is opening their new location on January 4th at Park at 83. This is the final of the three new restaurants to open at this location. Postino’s joins Blanco Cocina + Cantina & North Italia. (map)

Home Show season is here!

The Maricopa County Home & Garden show is happening January 10th-12th, at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. (link)

The 2nd Annual North Peoria Home Show is happening at the Peoria Sports Complex on January 18th. (link)

He walks most mornings with his camera and shares beautiful images he takes of the birds in our community. I’ve written about his work a couple times in the newsletter.
